How We Invest
Reviving historic properties to meet current needs.
Maine’s historic mills and downtowns are our economic engines, where past and present intersect.
We focus our investments on projects that maintain key community features while providing needed services, social and cultural opportunities, and places to work and live.
Historic Preservation also has significant environmental benefits: by reusing and building upon existing structures, we decrease the carbon output tied to making and transporting new materials and reduce waste, retaining embodied carbon, while upgrading the functionality and efficiency of the buildings.
