Licensing Requirements
1. Complete a DHHS Background Check
Required Document: Within a few weeks of being fingerprinted with IdentoGO, you will receive a Letter of Eligibility from the Maine Department of Health & Human Services indicating you are eligible to provide child care services

2. Secure Town Approval
Required Document: A letter from your town indicating there are no zoning or code enforcement issues with a child care business at your location
A town can write their own letter or use this zoning letter template.
3. Secure Landlord Approval (Rented Spaces Only)
Required Document: A letter from your landord indicating they permit the operation of a child care business in the space they own.

4. Register with Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ)
Required Document: MRTQ Registry Certificate

6. Complete Mandated Reporter Training
